Purpose of the Job
- To teach Law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Contribute to the management and administration of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including organising assessments and contributing to quality assurance and accreditation processes (particularly if acting as module coordinator).
- To develop and enhance teaching materials in line with best pedagogical practices.
- To provide academic and pastoral support to students.
- To contribute to the administrative functions of the School as directed by the Head of School, such as membership of School committees or task groups.
- Play an active role in student recruitment activities and the promotion of the School’s academic programmes.

Main

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and tutorials that respond to a range of student needs, learning styles, and class sizes.
- Inspire and engage students in active learning, providing timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback.
- Keep up to date with developments in the field of Law, as well as broader educational and technological advancements.
- Act as personal tutor to a number of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students, offering academic and personal guidance.
- Engage in scholarly activity to enhance teaching quality and support institutional strategies related to education and student experience.
- Contribute to the management and administration of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including organising assessments and contributing to quality assurance and accreditation processes (particularly if acting as module coordinator).
- Undertake additional administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School, such as membership of School committees or task groups.
- Play an active role in recruitment activities and the promotion of the School’s academic programmes.

**Responsibilities**:

- The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training

Essential
- A PhD (or near completion) in Law, a related discipline or relevant experience.

Desirable
- A recognised teaching qualification in higher education (e.g. PGCert, FHEA) completed or near completion.

Experience/Knowledge and Skills

Essential
- Ability to deliver engaging and inclusive teaching using a variety of methods.
Examples of modules that need to be covered include Legal and Justice Process, Public Law, Criminal Law and Legal Skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
