This will be done as part of a meeting structure where the most clinically complex patients are discussed and reviewed with the whole team.It is anticipated that the post holder will assist in training of team members in clinical matters.The post holder will work collaboratively with the Acute Care Services (inpatient and Home Treatment (HTT)). The community consultant is responsible for the longer term planning and provision of section 117 aftercare arrangements and the provision of suitable reports for Mental Health Act appeals.The post holders will provide consultation and supervision for Primary Mental Health Services in their catchment area.Consultants will be expected to comply with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010. This is a Welsh statutory law and aims to give patients the right to a high standard of care.Clinical leadership within Acute Care setting.Develop care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence based treatment and effectiveness.Mental Health Act 1983 assessments when required.Main duties of the jobTo manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed between consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Health Board’s personnel policies and procedures.To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively and submit this promptly to the necessary department.To participate in annual appraisal for consultants.To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Health Board, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act 1983 Section 12(2) approval, to work within the legal framework of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and to abide by professional codes of conduct.To participate annually in a job plan review with the Clinical Director, which will include consultation in order to ensure that the post is developed to take into account changes in service configuration and delivery associated with modernisation.To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services, and share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.Working for our organisationWe are delighted that you are interested in joining the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Division.
