Are you passionate about helping people in crisis and helping them engage with opportunities to improve their lives? We have an amazing opportunity for you to be part of a new team who are focussed on improving the lives and wellbeing of people who experience challenges because of substance use, domestic abuse or homelessness.
You will find this job very inspiring if you are focussed on providing support to people with additional needs (such as mental or physical ill health and re-offending behaviour). You will be enthusiastic, motivated, and an excellent communicator with the desire for making a significant difference to the people of Middlesbrough.
We have opportunities working within the custody and court teams, you will triage people coming through custody to help them engage with the right support. You will work closely with magistrates and judges and help those being released from prison ensuring the support they receive continues.
This role is perfect if you’re able to relate to others in a way that builds rapport and trust in a short period of time. You don’t need to be experienced working in the same field however, you will be skilled in delivering interventions, care planning, and we also welcome ‘lived’ experience.
We will fully support you, creating an individual development plan helping you be the best you can be in this rewarding role or if you are fairly new in your chosen career, we can provide professional growth opportunities to develop your wider experience and you will have the support of an amazing team around you.
What you will be doing:
- Supporting people in crisis and helping them positively engage with life-changing services.
- Create packages of individualised support which help people improve their interpersonal skills to gain confidence to build and maintain relationships.
- Collaborate within a multi-agency setting.
- Measure success, evaluating interventions to ensure our work has the right impact.
- Support people on release from police custody ensuring they access ongoing support.
- Encourage sustained independence and reduce intensity of your involvement as people gain control of their future.
What you must have:
- Experience gained in a relatable field or support setting.
- Focus on achieving results and effective at managing caseloads.
- Skills to carry-out assessments and deliver interventions.
- Passion to achieve positive results for the people you engage with.
- A collaborative approach to working.
- Creativity to help develop and shape the service provided.
- Great motivational and interpersonal skills.
- Integrity in your approach, being respectful and doing things in the right way.
- Flexibility in your approach to meet service user engagement (including occasional weekend work).
