Medical Receptionist

Varying shifts between 7am-6pm Monday-Friday (37.5 hours per week / Full-time).
Located in Cobham and Epsom, Surrey.
Epsomedical Group is an independent provider of outpatient, diagnostics and day case surgery services for the NHS and privately. Our services consistently score very highly with patients and as a result have been steadily expanding.
A really varied role where no day is the same, we have a great opportunity for a Medical Receptionist to join the team on a permanent basis, working across 3 sites; Cobham Day Surgery, Epsom Day Surgery and an Outpatients only clinic at Epsom Square.
You will be responsible to the Customer Services Manager and fulfil roles such as making bookings, answering telephone calls and day to day dealing with patients. One year minimum previous reception experience necessary, preferably in a medical environmentbut not essential.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Main Reception duties to support all staff and visitors.
- Ensure a friendly and welcoming atmosphere is always present.
- Provide front line telephone duties and triage patient queries to give appropriate support and advice or take information to pass the query to the appropriate department.
- Be able to provide patients with agreed information on all aspects of treatment undertaken at Epsomedical.
- Manage the administration of clinics and advise appropriate staff of any issues.
- Assist with management of patients likely to miss their appointments.
- Liaise with GP surgeries to source information or to provide test results and other medical communications.
- Electronic filing of letters, results, and notes.
- Enter patient direct access requests onto the bespoke Patient Administration System.
- Book new and follow-up appointments where appropriate.
- Telephone or send appointment cards and reminders for patients with clinic appointment details.
- Input outgoing mail on the the Royal Mail system and send out letters and parcels on time each day.
- Escort patients or relatives to ward and clinics if required.
- Key holder to open the site on the early shifts.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to problem solving.
- Liaise with Reception Team Leader and day unit staff to ensure smooth running of the unit.
Key Skills for the role:
- Recent experience in a Receptionist/Administrator role is essential
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to pick up new systems
- Previous experience working within a medical environment is desirable
- Driver with owncardue to location of sites
- Discreet nature, to maintain patient confidentiality
- Ability to show empathy towards patients in a calm and respectful manner
- Adaptable to different working environments and system changes
**Salary**: From £21,500.00 per year, with a review on salary after 6 months with a potential to rise to £23,000.00 per year.
