This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
**Job description**:
- The role of Response is to manage the response procedures and investigations of security events or incidents.
- Response colleagues must contain and remediate those incidents, identify potential process improvements and maintain organisational readiness, through preparedness exercises and co-ordinating red team activity. Response also advise product and service owners of potential mitigation.
- Typical activities include:
- Managing response policies and processes to meet the needs in line with appropriate standards
- Managing incident response exercises and scoping, design and governance of red-teaming and threat-hunting activity
- Communicating the significance of the results of investigations and risk mitigation outcomes, guiding the improvement and maintenance of a robust response to new threats and attack vectors
- Managing post-incident review, including root cause analysis, to feed-back information and improve monitoring
- Providing specialist, tailored advice on mitigation, handling escalations with risk and service owners
The Incident Coordinator Team Lead will lead and manage a team responsible for initial responses to cyber security incident notifications, escalating where required and producing cyber status and post incident reports. You will also highlight trends, to aid both future capabilities and incident response and on longer-term patterns of incidents received, such as emerging patterns of malicious activity.
- This position sits within the Ministry of Defence Computer Emergency Response Team (MODCERT), part of the wider Joint Defensive Cyber Unit (JDCU). We are a small, highly specialised team that is growing, with exciting plans, so now is a great time to join us and become part of our journey**Responsibilities**:
- Responsibilities include:
- Act as part of a team responsible for initial response to cyber security incident notifications and longer-term co-ordination, including escalation to the relevant JDCU and wider MOD teams as required.
- Lead the MODCERT team in co-ordination, creation and dissemination of MODCERT and wider JDCU reporting, including regular cyber status reports, post incident reports and highlighting trends to aid both future capabilities and incident response.
- Engage with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on longer-term patterns of incidents received, both long-term and emerging patterns of malicious activity.
- Work with other Government departments and foreign Nations, supporting national level exercises and incidents when required.
- Provide development and mentorship to MODCERT team members and deputise for Officer Commanding Operations Sqn when necessary, responsible for leading both the Cyber Threat Intelligence, Forensics and Malware team in addition to MODCERT.
- Be on call when required to support out-of-office incident reporting.
- This position has line management responsibility for a team of around 8-10 staff.

Desirable knowledge or experience (not essential, as training and development will be provided):
- Previous incident management experience.
