**Job description**:
Defence Digital (DD) Operational Service Management (OSM) was stood up in April 2020, part of a business change programme to take operational control of service delivery through maturing a Service Integration and Management (SIAM) approach across DD, including deploying a new Service Centre in October 2021. DD OSM has a phased approach to onboarding further Service Providers to the SIAM ecosystem as we implement and cohere Service Integration for Defence, in the form of the Operational Service Management capability, the engine room for IT service management and integration in support of Defence business and military Operations. It operates in a technically complex, high pressure and operationally imperative environment.

The role is a great opportunity to work in a high-profile and highly demanding SIAM environment which connects most parts of Defence Digital and is a key enabler to how DD will operate in the future. As a Grade 7 Assistant Head, you would be responsible for Service Management across a range of Core Defence Digital services. This role has scope for wide impact across and beyond the immediate organisation, to improve operational efficiency, levels and quality of service and influence the development of effective policies. You would have considerable discretion over day-to-day conduct and organisation of work.

This role requires a strong background in Service Management within an ICT environment, collaborative, assertive and technically experienced with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

You’ll need to be an experienced and accomplished leader, with a proven track record of working across boundaries within a highly complex ecosystem, ensuring services delivered and maintained in a safe secure way with mínimal disruption. An inspiring leader, with a relentless focus on service quality, risk management, secure operations and the prioritisation of user experience; self-starting, collaborative, dynamic and demonstrably ambitious about excellent customer service, operational support and mission assurance.

This role could be suitable for an individual with relevant skills, experience or progression from previous Service Management or other SIAM-related; or for someone with appropriate skills gained in a different environment, for example in industry with large-scale change and project management skills and experience.

- Lead and direct service management activities across a range of ICT services ensuring the services continually meet their performance and availability targets.
- Lead risk and issues management associated with live services within the posts remit and work closely with Delivery Partners (DP), other areas of the Directorate, wider DD and MOD, as required, to identify and enact suitable mitigation plans.
- Lead and direct service sustainment and improvement activities to ensure the continuity of end-to-end service delivery.
- Lead Defence Digital Stakeholders as required to prioritise and manage to completion escalated Customer issues in accordance with agreed processes.
