Head of Data Governance

**Description**:
We are seeking a Head of Data Governance & Management to help embed and drive a data driven culture as part of a revised Data & Analytics function, within the AXA’s Retail Insurance business. This role will uplift our data maturity within Data & Analytics and the functions across Retail which we support, and will be part of a huge transformation project within AXA Retail.

The Data & Analytics function is now organised around three centres of excellence: Data Insights, Data Engineering and Data Science, supported by two new teams - Data Strategy & Culture and Data Governance & Management. These two new teams will help make us a more data driven organisation - Data Governance & Management will embed core data management policies and enable the delivery of data initiatives at pace & of high data quality. This re-organises the department into capability-based teams and enables greater agility and flexibility.

With the increased competition and changing customer demands means that data and analytics have never been more important. We must have a 360-degree view of customer activity and deliver hyper-personalised customer experiences and propositions, powered by advanced analytics modelling. And a shift to a ‘Hub and Spoke’ model means we can provide highly skilled support to the wider organisation.

The Head of Data Governance & Management is responsible for embedding AXA UK’s data management policies within the Data and Analytics hub whilst also supporting the wider business functions to appropriately manage data assets. Through defining a set of standards, procedures, controls and metrics they will embed core data management and quality practices across the business to uplift and maintain data assets. Given both the function and role is newly created and our strong ambition to improve the maturity of AXA Retail’s data management and quality capabilities, significant experience will be required to ensure the role holder is successful.

They will lead a team of three colleagues, all of which will be responsible for collaborating with both the UK CDO and AXA Retail functions to define and embed practical solutions to uplift data quality and management processes. For the new Head of Data Governance & Management this is a chance to mould something of your own, to form your own team and to create a bespoke service that can support and collaborate with the wider business functions.

**Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities**
- Implementing and rolling out data governance and quality tooling across AXA Retail
- Conducting an enterprise-wide data quality assessment and define a resulting action plan to resolve identified issues
- Running appropriate governance forums relating to data governance and management
- Setting and monitoring a suite of metrics relating to data governance and management
- Define and embed a data ethics framework within the various delivery lifecycles
- Ensure stakeholders across the organisation are provided with the support and materials required to safely use data within privacy related regulations and policies

**Qualifications**:

- Significant experience in defining and implementing data governance, management and quality policies, frameworks and tooling
- Leading teams of data governance professionals, turning broad policy requirements into practical processes
- Implemented data tooling to support wider processes
- Demonstrated experience in uplifting enterprise data quality
- Implementing GDPR requirements and experiencing in issues relating to data privacy and ethics
