We offer a seamless ‘one stop shop’ service including technical & food safety expertise as well as IT, Marketing, Operations and Invoicing support. Our customers include major national retailers and Foodservice operators who want to offer their shoppers/consumers quality local foods, which are often delivered fresh every day. We are proud to support local communities throughout the UK and are looking for a Technical Assistant to join our talented team and help us drive our mission even further.

In this role, key areas of work include: identifying and effectively communicating risks to food safety and quality; identifying areas for improvement; and ensuring that the organisation complies with customer and legislative requirements.

The successful applicant will carry out routine compliance tasks such as but not limited to:

- Manage supplier approval and monitoring to ensure 100% supplier compliance with business and customer requirements.
- Review audits and closure of non-conformances from supplier, customer, internal, and 3rd party audits.
- Maintain product specifications and review for legal compliance and customer requirements.
- Maintain online customer portals.
- Review of labelling for legal compliance.
- React to supplier, customer and internal queries relating to product specifications.
- Manage and investigate customer and supplier complaints.
- Co-ordinate and investigate supplier product recalls/withdrawals and food safety incidents.
- Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers, customers and to the business.
- Carry out internal audits.

**Essential Skills/ Core Competences**:

- Methodical approach with good prioritisation skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work to short deadlines.
- Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of excel / powerpoint and an appreciation of IT systems.

**Key Challenges**:

- Dealing with suppliers, customer and internal queries.
- Translating technical/food safety requirements for a non-technical listener.
- Prioritising a wide variety of tasks within workload.

Communication throughout all levels of business.

**Qualifications**:

- Food Science/Food Technology Qualification.
- Good knowledge of food safety accreditation standards such as BRCGS/SALSA/STS
- Knowledge of technical and quality gained by working in food industry (preferably in production site).
- Understanding of food allergens and legislation.
- Understanding of food product specifications.
- Understanding of food labelling legislation.
- Understanding of food safety legislation including HACCP.
- HACCP Level 3 (Desirable).
- Internal Auditor (Desirable).

This is an office based role incorporating a hybrid working model split between our head office in East Kilbride and home working (3/2 ratio).

Pay: £23,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
