**About the Department**:
SOAS Library attracts scholars from around the world and has holdings of 1.3 million volumes and an excellent selection of online resources to support the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The Reader Services Team plays a vital role in welcoming our users and in managing access to the Library’s collections and spaces. Special Collections is responsible for the management of the Library’s archive, manuscript, and rare book holdings. This includes acquiring, cataloguing, and preserving the collections. The Special Collections team provides access to the collections through the reading room and an enquiry service. Special Collections works closely with other teams in SOAS Library as well as colleagues across SOAS.

**About the**Role**:
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to deliver a range of core tasks in support of the front-of-house Special Collections services in the Library. The post holder will contribute to the development of outstanding reader services for all those who use the Library, with a strong focus on providing excellent customer service. The post-holder will provide operational and administrative support for Special Collections in the effective delivery of day-to-day services to students, researchers and academics engaging with SOAS Collections. These include, but are not limited to, responding to enquiries, assisting in the shelving and retrieval of items, and supporting readers in Special Collections. The post-holder will be required to participate in frontline services provided onsite.
