Job description

One appointment will be made at Lecturer level and the second appointment will be either at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Reader level, depending on qualification and experience.

The appointee will be based in Informatics and will be a champion for research collaboration with Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences. They will undertake research and teaching in a core area of Computer Vision. They will be assigned to teach in postgraduate or undergraduate degree programmes in computer science and/or artificial intelligence offered by the Department of Informatics, and will be expected to supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate projects.

Applicants must have a PhD, an excellent publication record, and a track record of attracting research funding. It is essential that applicants have the enthusiasm and commitment required to contribute to the further development of the research standing of the Department of Informatics and the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, and to make a full contribution to teaching and administrative activities.

Salaries Available

Lecturer:
Grade 7: £48,737 - £57,353 per annum, including London Weighting

Senior Lecturer:
Grade 8: £58,949 - £67,673 per annum, including London Weighting

Reader:
Reader Scale 1 - 8: £ 56,592 - 69,572 per annum, including London Weighting

This post will be offered on an indefinite/ open-ended contract

These are full-time post - 100% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities
- Lead advanced research, maintain an outstanding track record of published research at a level of international excellence and lead activities promoting research impact.
- Provide leadership in teaching, examining and project supervision of undergraduate and MSc students in the Department of Informatics
- Supervise research students in the Department of Informatics and act as personal tutor to students as agreed with the Head of Department, assist with difficulties, e.g. learning support/problems and be responsible for the pastoral care of students.
- Champion research collaboration between the Department of Informatics and the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Science at King’s.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be requested by the Head of Department.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria (Reader)

1. PhD in computer science, computer vision or related field.

2. Outstanding research record in computer vision as evidenced by publications in high quality journals and conferences; research experience and good reputation in relevant research field; established record of research students supervision.

3. Principal investigator of major research project(s), and outstanding record of attracting research project funding.

4. A record of undergraduate and postgraduate modules teaching in core areas of computer science and computer vision, including design, delivery and assessment.

5. A significant record of contribution to administrative work.
