The Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health (NCTH) has an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Senior Assistant Clinical Psychologist. The clinic is one of 7 National Gender Identity Clinics and sees patients from across England.
What are some of the barriers to receiving good quality physical and mental health care that face transgender and gender non-conforming people?(300 words max)
The Senior Assistant Clinical Psychologist will support in the management of the diagnostic assessment pathways for new referrals to the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health (NCTH), under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. Specifically, to support in triaging referrals that are received into the service and ensuring they are directed towards the most appropriate assessment pathway. This will involve reviewing referrals, collecting updated assessment information via either clinical interview or a proforma, facilitating introductory workshops, and the accurate recording of confidential electronic clinical notes.
The Senior Assistant Clinical Psychologist will need to work independently according to an agreed plan and within the overall framework of the trust’s policies and procedures. If appropriate, the Senior Assistant Clinical Psychologist will be included in opportunities to undertake brief psychological assessment and therapy intervention work. They will also be required to assist and gain experience through participating in relevant clinically related administrative activities and the development of audit and/or research projects. They would be expected to participate in relevant continuing professional development and attend regular clinical supervision.

- Triage service referrals
- To work with the MDT on outcomes
- To undertake related administrative work
- Develop group workshops for patients waiting to be seen
- To complete brief psychological assessments and interventions, both individual and group sessions
