This is an exciting post for an aspiring practitioner psychologist: You will be joining an established team of clinical and forensic psychologists and other psychological professionals and will provide key input across the Low Secure setting, working alongside MDTs to deliver 1:1 and group interventions and assist generally with the varied and highly valued work of the department.

The main duties of the role are to assist the qualified psychologists in the team to deliver a high quality psychological service to patients and staff. This involves working under supervision to conduct assessments and some treatments and interventions which can help patients to enhance their coping skills and reduce risk of offending. The job also involves some data collection and service evaluation work, as well as opportunities to develop teaching skills.

The Nottinghamshire Low Secure and Community Forensic Directorate is responsible for inpatients and community patients with a diagnosis of a mental illness and/or personality disorder, and learning disabilities. The LSCFD consists of a low secure inpatient service (The Wells Road Centre) and several community services, including community forensic mental health teams, community forensic IDD, Liaison and Diversion, Assertive Transitions and MBT / personality disorder services. This role will primarily be with the low secure inpatient service, with potential opportunities for occasional community work. The LSCFD psychology and psychotherapy department consists of about 12 psychologists, psychotherapists and nurse specialists, each providing a key service to patients and non-psychologist colleagues across the service.
