**Job Introduction**

i is recruiting a dynamic **Acting Managing Editor** to support the Editor-in-Chief in running the newsroom and meeting our business objectives.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Budget management: set budgets in conjunction with other management executives and ensure that they are kept to.
- HR: lead on personnel issues. Work with HR to manage personnel matters and ensure the smooth running of i editorial.
- Oversee recruitment, working with senior executives and section heads to lead talent identification, hiring and retention across all departments.
- Digital transformation: work with senior executives to help drive the wider transformation of the newsroom to support business subscription goals.
- Lead on regulatory issues including liaison with Ipso.

**Person Specification**

Essential
- Significant experience in a national news environment, including executive experience as a desk head, or significant managerial experience in a news environment.
- Experience in digital newsroom transformation.
- Ability to run budgets and manage those who are running budgets.
- Proven people manager with experience of running teams of 15 or more.
- Familiarity with operating in regulated environments and understanding of complaints handling processes.
- Experience of working in digital and/or print at a high level.
- Substantial experience of HR issues including talent recruitment.
