Condé Nast Traveller is looking for maternity cover for the Chief Sub-editor role, overseeing editorial copy for the print title.
- Responsibilities_- Proofread/copy-edit to a high standard to ensure that content is factually and grammatically correct and in keeping with the publication’s style and tone- Liaise with Features, Art, Pictures and Art Production departments to move copy through the CNT workflow and ensure pages go to press within deadline- Work closely with Research/Fact-checking department at all stages of the CNT workflow- Highlight any legal or other sensitive issues in content- Devise strong headlines and display copy- Elegantly cut copy to fit layouts- Manage Copy Editor or freelancers, when required
- Requirements_- Four-plus years’ experience of copy-editing in a publishing environment, preferably including roles as a Deputy or Chief Sub-editor- Thorough grasp of English grammar, spelling and idiomatic expression- Ability to work meticulously under tight deadlines- Organised, efficient and flexible at copy-editing across different mediums and tones- Comfortable liaising with different departments across the business- Ability to make thoughtful copy cuts- A flair for writing- A thorough understanding of Adobe programmes (InCopy, InDesign)- Familiarity with Condé Nast titles- Experience in fact-checking desirable
