The Defence Operations Team forms part of the wider Defence Team at the UK Hydrographic Office. The Team directly supports Defence contingent operations and capability by providing Defence maritime data, products and services as part of our Defence public task.

**Job description**:**
The Defence Situational Awareness and Geospatial Coordinator will undertake the following activities/tasks**:

- Under the direction of the Request For Information (RFI) Manager, assist with the response to RFIs in order to meet STRATCOMs requirement for bespoke GEOINT products and services and contribute to joint operational success in the maritime and littoral battlespace.
- Manage the administration and delivery of digital information, digital media and products utilising defence and UKHO network infrastructure and/or courier services in accordance with JSP440 - Defence Manual of Security and Resilience.
- Promote new and existing UKHO Defence and Admiralty products and services to defence users.
- Assist in the management, supervision and delivery of defence visits to UKHO Taunton.
- Support the provision and delivery of Maritime Foundation Geospatial Information (GEOINF) to our deployed user community.
- Under the direction of the Maritime Foundations Database (MFDB) manager, prepare and despatch geospatial support laptops to our deployed user community.
- Under the direction of the MFDB manager, undertake database administration of the MFDB and FDB.
- Locate and/or extract existing foundation data and/or products from the MFDB/FDB for distribution and/or modify them in order to meet the customer requirement.
- Liaise closely with UKHO departments to maintain an awareness of wider UKHO activity and update defence customers/end user as required.

**In addition, the Defence Situational Awareness and Geospatial Coordinator will**:

- In the event of absence, support the response to RFIs
- In the event of absence, provide resilience support to the provision of Maritime Geospatial laptops to the deployed user community.
- In the event of absence, provide resilience support to the Maritime Foundation GEOINF Service.
- Support Digital Delivery Development

**Responsibilities**:
The role features the following key objectives and involves engagement both internally, across the business, and externally, acting as the conduit between our primary customer and the business in the delivery of GEOINF and GEOINT. The post holder will:

- Administer the digital and delivery of UKHO defence products, services and equipment to our defence customers.
- Support the delivery of UKHOs response to RFIs.
- Support the delivery of geospatial support laptops.
- Support the delivery of routine defence visits to UKHO.

The post holder will also support the business continuity and resilience to Defence Operations Team (DOT) section by having sufficient experience to deputise for the RFI manager in the administration, dissemination and monitoring of RFIs, or to deputise for the MFDB manager in data management activities in relation to the MFDB when staff absence/circumstances require.

**Person Specification**:
This role requires a self motivated and organised individual who can take effective decisions based upon strict security protocols. We are looking for an effective communicator who is able to build relationships with colleagues and customers to enable them to deliver required outcomes. Experience of working with and manipulating geospatial data and Geospatial Information Systems is also an essential requirement for the role.
