Pop Culture what is it? if you know the answers then perhaps this unique, challenging, stimulating, vibrant and fast paced new position is for you. The key component of our strategy is to establish a long term dominant Pop Culture product offer through our own Licensed lines and Supplier led lines in the UK, Southern Ireland, Europe and beyond. The strategy is already established and working very well and this success has led to a very necessary expansion of our UK Team and the need now to recruit a "go getter" Head Of Pop Culture based in our London Office. You will be responsible for building and developing hmv's portfolio of being the number one retailer for Pop Culture in the UK and Europe. The role will involve managing a team of 9 across all areas of Pop Culture business within hmv and Fopp. You will be responsible for developing your team, Supplier relationships, formulating sales, trends and business plans, forecasting, inventory management, professional presentation of products and internal reporting sales, margin and ROI with full accountability. **Key Responsibilities** - Develop and motivate your 9 strong team to ensure accurate, timely and successful go to market launches, range and lifecycle management against company and department KPIs - Review and analyse market data by Product, Category and Customer - Develop and manage Forecasts and Inventory - Drive and deliver Sales, Margin & Marketing expectations in line with the Company's expectations - Negotiate the Company's Supplier Trading Terms. - Communicate clearly and effectively the Pop Culture offer and message with our Customers first and foremost and also internally with Team colleagues, Senior Management up to Commercial and Managing Directors. - Seek out fast solutions to challenges and new opportunities with a proactive can do attitude. - Negotiate and implement effective Pop Culture Marketing initiatives and Promotions - KPI focused.and passionate about both Team colleagues development and vital business improvements - New Trend leading and Social Media proactive - Wider business teams engagement, onboarding and collaboration to ensure all areas of the pop culture success offer are optimised within hmv and fopp - Minimum 2 years working successfully in a Pop Culture or similar Retail/licensing/Head Office environment - Skill and desire to recognise emerging trends and opportunities and to develop ways to exploit them commercially - Enthusiastic and truly passionate about Pop Culture across all Product lines, Franchises we do. - Identify and prioritise new Suppliers and Formats in line with our Pop Culture growth and Customer needs - Sales and Product Line weekly, monthly and yearly Reporting and Forecasting and spotting key opportunities to differentiate hmv to other Retailers - Ensure all stakeholders are fully aligned with requirements to deliver Targets - Work closely with our Global Teams to share best practice, Trends and Market Data - Produce Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly Report and Updates - Conduct competitor analysis to understand the market - Someone who can work effectively independently without daily contact and supervision but excellent upward management skills - Someone who will acknowledge the needs and Training requirements of their Team colleagues - Proficiency in researching and analysing market opportunities - Someone who is willing and able to work according to the core values and working practices of the Company - Ability to interpret data, understand and negotiate Supplier Contracts. - Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills - Numerical skills to be able to price Product lines based on cost in order to achieve target Margins - Accurate, efficient and strong attention to detail work - there is not the manpower to check everything - Flexible and adaptable in ways of working in an expanding dynamic Team and Company - Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required to attend Supplier Meetings and Trade Fairs. - Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and Power Point) - Organised, accountable, goal orientated with a hands on management style. - Entrepreneurial, innovative and views challenges as opportunities - Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills - Assisting Sales with regular Store visits, supplier meeting and Training Sessions - Languages are beneficial but not essential Above all what is required is common sense,energy, enthusiasm, a great sense of humour and a love of all things Pop Culture We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to diversity and inclusion.
