- Chief Digital and Information Office (CDIO) set the technology direction for HMRC and deliver the high-level design for all IT solutions. We are responsible for building and running HMRC IT services along with providing IT change and operational support.

The services we provide are essential to the effective delivery of Programmes and Projects right across a very diverse and complex portfolio with some very challenging deliveries.**Job description**:
The role of the Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the Programme/Projects objectives. It enables the smooth running of the Programme by supporting the Project Managers through the operation of governance processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf.

**Person specification**:
Role responsibilities can include any or all the following disciplines across the full range of duties in a typical Directorate Services/ Programme Management Office environment:

- Stakeholder Management - Act as a lead point of contact and manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Co-Ordination - Co-ordinate responses from a number or Projects ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are adhered to.
- Monitoring & Reporting - Manage project reporting. Develop project performance reports. Maintain reporting processes and quality controls.
- Risks and Issues - Identify and manage risks and issues that impact project delivery, escalating as appropriate.
- Planning - Implement and maintain appropriate systems that enable effective planning, ensuring robust plans in place and maintained to ensure successful delivery.
- Change Control - Manage the change control process ensuring all change requests are captured, monitored and meet both CDIO and Borders and Trade processes.
- Financial Control - Manage programme/project funding approval processes ensuring that all funding requests are secured in a timely manner with defined audit trails by working with IT Delivery and Finance colleagues and external suppliers.
- Admin - Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Attend and lead meetings with stakeholders ensuring outputs and actions are tracked and communicated in a timely manner.
- There may also be management responsibilities.

**Essential Criteria**
- Recent experience of working in a Portfolio/Programme/Project Management Office environment.
- Experience with managing a large range of both internal and external stakeholders including at a senior level.
- Good working knowledge of full range of Office365 suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and MS Teams.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- The ability to work in an environment of uncertainty and continual change.
- Able to feel comfortable making decisions and setting direction without having the full picture and re-focus as details emerge.
- Recent PPM Qualification.
