**The Opportunity**
The UKIMEA Public Affairs Lead will work closely with the Associate Director - Head of Public Affairs, UKIMEA region chair and key members from across the region to develop and execute an engagement approach that will form a key part of delivering the Public Affairs Strategy for the region.
This role will work in collaboration with the Associate Director of Public Affairs to develop and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, enhance our public presence with policymakers, and ensure our programmes of work influence key areas within the industry and with local, regional and national government.
You will be responsible for delivering annual programmes of engagement activity that achieve the public affairs strategy and that support Arup’s business priorities in the UK. Activity will be both planned and reactive and will include organising and preparing for private meetings and larger events, such as Party Conferences; authoring papers and statements for issue to government bodies, trade associations and other industry initiatives. Working with colleagues from across the business to develop and shape engaging policy solutions that will support Arup’s business goals
**Is this role right for you?**
We are looking for people who:
- Have substantial experience in leading public affairs at a national level and building reputation and partnerships with government and policymakers for maximum influence and impact.
- Have excellent knowledge and experience of the UK political landscape and functioning and social norms of the UK political system, the remit of National and devolved governments, Combined Authorities and the progress of English devolution.
- Have policy development and building advocacy for campaigns in the infrastructure sector, transport, energy and planning.
- Possess Strong skills in horizon scanning and in identifying opportunities for an organisation to participate in public policy discussions as well as experience in recognising the risks associated with doing so.
- Experience in advising senior business/ organisational leaders as they prepare for meetings with senior political figures and their teams
