As a Control Room Operative, you will be part of the front-line team for the Heathrow Light Rail Engineering department. Reporting to the Duty Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling our Automatic People Movement (APM) systems, and giving clear, accurate communication to engineers, in the event of failures and contingencies.

In this safety critical role, you will place the passenger and customer at the heart of everything you do, making every journey better, safer, and more efficient. Everyday you’ll be taking on vital work to keep our airport running smoothly.

**Your role will involve**:

- Effectively monitoring the APM system to ensure the trains and vehicles run smoothly.
- Ensuring any stoppages are dealt with in the correct manor.
- Working in accordance with the approved safety management system.
- Providing daily support and updates to the engineering team.
- Ensuring any failures are logged and reported appropriately.
- Ensuring contingencies and corrective actions are planned reviewed and updated.
- Adhering to safety procedures and proactively reducing risks, to maintain a safe working environment.

**These skills are essential**:

- Experience working within a similar control room or service operation position.
- Experience working in a role controlled by a safety management system.
- The ability to pass Rail and Other Guided Transport (ROGS) training competencies.
- A strong working knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace.
- Flexibility to work across a variety of Rail Engineering locations as required.
- An electrical qualification would be advantageous.
