Home Office Intelligence is a newly established unit, bringing together a number of existing teams involved in the collection and analysis of border and immigration related intelligence. The team has 1600 colleagues based across the UK and international locations who are focused on threats related to Organised Crime, National Security and Revenue. The team’s remit is to deliver Intelligence Collection, Development, Analysis, Targeting (Data Analytics) and Watchlisting capabilities within the Home Office and to its partners across Government and Law Enforcement.
**Job description**:
The National Border Targeting Centre (NBTC) is a multi-agency capability comprising Border Force, National Crime Agency (NCA), Police and Immigration Enforcement (IE) staff. The role includes analysis of travel, manifest and booking system data to identify people and/or commodities of interest travelling inbound and outbound of the UK. This post is advertised with Annualised Hours Working (AHW) terms and conditions. Successful applicants would no longer receive any other attendance-related allowances.
Before accepting a post, applicants must be willing to perform the whole range of shifts and need to consider the impact of shift-working on their personal lives.
Applicants should also bear in mind any public transport or commuting distance issues that might affect prompt and regular attendance for shift start times. No dispensation can be made in this regard.
**Person specification**:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Evaluating data from a wide variety of in-house and commercial intelligence sources
- Monitoring law enforcement systems and ensure the highest priority outputs are actioned in a timely manner
- Enhancing outputs using analytical tools, Home Office systems and travel data
- Issuing, storing, and recording intelligence alerts or referrals to operational partners
- Using law enforcement systems to enrich targeting activity
- Actively and positively participate in business or system change projects or strategic transformation as representatives of the NBTC
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date operational activity records that inform both accurate reporting and future targeting responses, complying with all legal and assurance processes
- Chasing and recording feedback for targeting outputs by self and colleagues on team, and reporting positive feedback accurately
- Working collaboratively and effectively with relevant Multi-Agency units and other operational teams and partner agencies to ensure a de-conflicted response
**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**:
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel
- A proven track record to plan, organise and manage time to deliver the best quality and efficient service and work well under pressure
- Confidence engaging with and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners internally and externally
