Applications are invited for the role of Events Officer in the Energy Futures Lab at Imperial College London, to start as soon as possible. This post is an exciting and varied opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing institute at a world class university. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly competent person who is able to multi-task and work to deadlines.
The Events Officer will plan, co-ordinate and deliver Energy Futures Lab busy events programme as well as providing administrative support to the Institute. This will involve working in a tight-knit team with the Operations and Networks Manager and Communications Manager, and working with the Institute’s Directors. Energy Futures Lab’s growing portfolio of activities includes many high-profile events: a lunchtime seminar series, workshops, an Annual Lecture, briefing paper launches, and various public engagement activities, as well as joint events with external stakeholders such as industry and government departments.
This is a busy and varied role, involving working with staff of all levels of seniority as well as students. You will combine a professional approach with a friendly and welcoming manner, and will need to be proactive and highly organised in your approach to your duties.
**Duties and responsibilities**:
Working with the Communications Manager, your main responsibilities will be to schedule and arrange the Energy Futures Lab events programme and seminar series. Your excellent attention to detail, inter-personal skills and ability to manage multiple parallel activities will ensure that Energy Futures Lab’s busy and varied events programme is planned and delivered to the highest standards.
This will involve liaising with various stakeholders, assisting with events on the day to ensure their smooth running; assisting the Communications Manager in advertising events; and pre
- and post-event communications with attendees. You will also use your excellent organisational skills to provide more general administrative support to the Institute.

**Essential requirements**:
- Experience of planning and managing events;
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with an ability to multitask and prioritise effectively;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form effective working relationships both internally and externally to Imperial College;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including being able to communicate information clearly and concisely;
- IT skills - proven ability to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc to a high level, as well as having technical proficiency to pick up new IT packages quickly
- Innovative, dynamic and able to demonstrate a proactive approach;
- Ability to work flexibly particularly when deadlines need to be met;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Friendly and professional manner.
**Further information**:
The post is full-time, fixed term for 12 months in the first instance, with possibility of extension.
Please note that this role will require some work out of core hours, e.g. set-up for events before 9 am and running some early evening events (dates and times will be agreed in advance).
