We have an opportunity for a ‘Programme Lead-Sustainable Transport’ to join us on a fixed term contract. You will be accountable for making sure that we have a best practice, active programme management function to support sustainable transport infrastructure delivery. This is a critical role for the organisation, as we are going through an exciting period of change, establishing a multi-modal delivery directorate and creating strong programme and project management functions, within a growing transport delivery portfolio.
This role will play a key part in setting and maturing that standard, working closely with the delivery team as part of the Transport Portfolio Office. It will play a critical part in supporting Transport for West Midlands’ delivery of multiple sustainable transport projects across the Region. **What you will be doing**
- Establish, lead, and manage the Programme Management function for Sustainable Transport.
- Ensure the Sustainable Transport Programme is delivered in alignment with the requirements of agreed business cases.
- Establish, implement, and lead programme controls and reporting for the Sustainable Transport Delivery Programme.
- Management of programme scope, risk & issue, change, assurance, and compliance in accordance with the established governance and assurance processes.
- Set and measure key performance targets to optimise delivery performance.
- Lead on procurement strategies and tender documentation, including pre-construction information and construction contractor appointment documentation.
- Create and nurture a high-performing and inclusive team environment that encourages contribution and recognition.
- Ensure the Sustainable Transport Programme is delivered in a collaborative and transparent way.
**About you**
- Significant highways/transport industry project and programme management experience.
- Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams and building strong relationships across all partners and stakeholders.
- Senior line management experience.
- Experience of integrating and delivering alongside other modes and disciplines particularly rail, bus, metro, and active travel works.
- Experience of managing and monitoring capital budgets.
- Experience of contract management through the procurement and management of suppliers.
- Excellent organisational, written, and verbal skills.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
