Chris Murray MP is looking for a Communications and Engagement Officer to play a key role in communicating his work and engaging with stakeholders and communities across Edinburgh East and Musselburgh.
Spanning traditional and new media, you will plan, coordinate, and deliver media and digital communications outputs, identify opportunities to proactively campaign locally, and help secure impact and influence in the constituency.
If you have the ability to think creatively and work flexibly as part of a small team, we would like to hear from you. To be successful you will have experience of working in a communications or media environment; knowledge of the regional media would be great; but more importantly a keen interest in the local area and passion for the issues that matter a must.
You will combine excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye for a good story and visuals. You will be able to interpret and communicate complex information, using this to frame compelling stories and craft clear and impactful communications products across a variety of mediums.

- excellent stakeholder engagement skills
- Previous experience in a political office is not necessary but a grasp of how to shape public and political debate would be very helpful.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
Interviews will be conducted in person in early September with a start date of late September. Flexible working will be considered.
