his is an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Act Administrator to join our team in the Mental Health Act Department at Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne, Berkshire.
The main focus of this role is to assist the Senior Mental Health Act Administrators in implementing statutory requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 in Broadmoor Hospital. The post holder is also required to facilitate patient’s rights of appeal and review through First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health) & MHA Managers.
This is an interesting role for someone who is has a keen eye for detail, and has the ability to be flexible and adaptable, ensuring confidentiality is upheld at all times.
**Working hours**: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday

The post holder will liaise with Tribunal Office to arrange Mental Health Tribunals. Assist the Senior MHA Administrators in receipt and administration of legal documents relevant to the Act. Assist in maintenance of computerised and manual records relating to the use of the Act, including prompt systems. This will require accurate data recording. Ensure consultants are notified and reminded when section renewals are due. Responsible for co-ordinate the preparation of medical, nursing and social circumstances reports for renewal hearings and assisting with statutory and other communications with Ministry of Justice Mental Health Unit in relation to restricted patients. Assist medical staff with clinical coding activity recorded on the patient database (RiO7).

To assist the Senior Mental Health Act Administrators in implementing statutory requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 (‘the Act’) and its Code of Practice in Broadmoor Hospital. To ensure lawfulness of detentions under Parts II & III of the Act. To facilitate rights of appeal and review through First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health) & MHA Managers. To advise staff at all levels on detailed legal and statutory requirements with appropriate assistance from Senior MHA Administrators. To monitor and record all changes in legal status, ensuring accuracy of same for reports on behalf of Trust Board.
**To deal with a range of queries**: written, telephone and personal callers.
To assist in audit activity and provision of statistical information.
To provide cover for Senior MHA administrator in his/her absence
Where necessary for the good of the wider department, to provide general cover for other staff by taking messages, assisting visitors or relaying queries on.
This post will involve regular, direct contact with patients and staff in a range of clinical settings and is therefore, not wholly office-bound.
