Compliance Officer

Join us as a **Compliance Officer (Gas and Water Safety)** at Torus Group This is a permanent role based in Warrington with occasional travel to other locations.

As a vital part of the Torus Asset’s team, the **Compliance Officer (Gas and Water Safety)** will assist the Business Lead in delivering a highly professional service. This role focuses on coordinating with tenants, residents, contractors, and Torus staff to ensure seamless delivery of gas and water safety compliance services across the property portfolio.

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for supporting the efficient delivery of gas and water safety compliance workstreams, ensuring that servicing programs are completed within the target timelines, and enhancing access and customer experience.

The role includes assisting the Business Lead in the procurement, management, and performance oversight of contractors responsible for gas and water compliance works.

While the position is primarily office-based, travel will be required. A full driving license is essential, along with access to a personal vehicle with a valid MOT and business use insurance coverage.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that Torus are compliant with the requirements of ACOP L8 (Legionnaires' disease. The control of legionella bacteria in water systems)
- Manage, monitor, and plan the Legionella Risk Assessment programme (LRA) to ensure that all applicable properties have a valid LRA in place, and that any remedial actions are completed within timescales and to the expected standards.
- Ensure all water safety maintenance regimes are delivered on time and to standards, including sampling, temperature testing and chlorination. To ensure that all works are evidenced sufficiently, and tat systems are kept up to date with programme dates, completions, and evidence.
- Support the Business Lead with the delivery of commercial Gas programmes and remedial works.
- Liaise with and assist with customer related issues throughout the programme process and support with access and appointments to reduce no access events and missed appointments.
- Develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the organisations Compliance Management Plans and Operational Guidance covering the six principal areas of compliance safety, with a predominant focus on Gas and Water Safety.
- Monitoring, following up and obtaining relevant certification or evidence to demonstrate that remedial works are completed in accordance with the respective management plan.
- Check the quality and ensure the correct storage of all certification and documents required to demonstrate landlord compliance.
- Assist on the preparation of contract documentation and assist in the development of programmes that meet both statutory/regulatory requirements and the organisations policies.
- Assist on the procurement of contractors and arrangements for delivery of services to ensure the service is as effective as possible.
- Develop your knowledge on good practice, legislation, and landlord compliance obligations in relation to your compliance areas.
- Escalate any non-compliance issues immediately to the Compliance Manager.
- Comply with both internal and external audits, providing information in the required format and within agreed timescales.
- Provide cover for the other Compliance Officers in the Compliance Team to ensure continuity of service to our customers.
- All other duties associated with ensuring that the compliance team meet the organisations statutory and regulatory obligations and comply with the policies and management plans.

**Skills & Experience**:

- Commenced or willing to work towards a professional qualification in property compliance/building related specialism.
- Experience of managing programs or projects and driving performance.
- P900 - Control of Legionella in Domestic Hot and Cold-Water System
- GCSE or equivalent standard in Maths and English
- Experience within a social housing environment, desirable for that to be within a compliance related field. Experience in successfully managing maintenance projects to occupied residential properties and liaising/consulting with customers to deliver programs that meet their needs.
