The role of ethics and compliance officer is an opportunity to assist the senior management & project delivery teams on all ethics and compliance requirements. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the project delivery teams and operational functions within the business.

The main objective of the role is to support with the assurance that the business complies with all relevant legislation, regulatory and ethics requirements. In addition to internal compliance of internal policies and procedures.

Detailed responsibilities include:
**Ethics and Regulation management**
- Provide assistance in assurance of compliance to industry codes to ensure that we remain ethically compliant with any standards that our business must adhere to.
- Support with the management of internal policies and procedures.
- Support with internal and external audits.
- Liaise and build rapport with country specific research ethics / governance committees.
- Support project teams in working towards a consistent approach, building relationships and sharing knowledge on ethical procedures.

**Data privacy management**
- Generating new SOPs and maintaining current SOPs.
- Monitor evolving standards and other industry trends.
- Quality and process improvement - working on current processes and improving upon them to reduce any errors or risk.
- Legal discussions - liaise with Group Compliance Manager and experts where necessary.
- Comply and have strong input into all company Policies and Procedures and provide recommendations of how to change them, should legislation change.
- Knowledge of ISO27001.
- Degree qualified or relevant experience in a relevant previous position in the life sciences community.
- Knowledge of research ethics.
- Knowledge of global data protection laws.
- Knowledge of international quality standards.
- Auditing experience. (Not Essential)
- Ability to work in collaboration with other functions.
- Ability to conduct research on industry codes and international regulation.
- Good report writing skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Good problem solving skills.
- A good multitasker and able to manage their own workload efficiently.
- Good knowledge of different business functions.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong work ethic.
- Good interpersonal skills.

- Competent Computer Skills.
- Proactive nature.
- Local to the Daresbury office or willing to commute there for a couple of days per week, to provide a presence in the office for those who require them. (negotiable)

Must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Reporting to: CFO

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
