We promote a safe working environment and push people to shape and progress their careers so that we grow our talent within the company.What you'll be doingYou will be the business' expert on the electricity transmission Licence and Codes, working with teams across the transmission business on issues at the forefront of regulatory policy. You will develop and influence future price control policy and industry codes, working across key areas including strategic planning, community benefits, competition in networks and funding mechanisms.Working collaboratively with SPEN's Regulation Manager, you will develop and implement the business' strategic thinking and objectives and represent SPEN's views and objectives through engagement with industry, regulatory and government stakeholders. Responding to Ofgem information requests, timely and accurately, you will communicate key regulatory updates to ensure the business remains adequately informed of wider industry activities whilst contributing to policy and regulatory development for key areas of focus for the team.You will:Lead SPEN's strategy on industry code changes at a critical phase of energy code reform and system development to meet the needs of our customers and consumers.Monitor, develop and support the implementation of Licence arrangements for current and future price controls and influence regulatory decisions, including any potential licence enforcement, whilst maintaining the transmission licence and records of all key changes.Support the business on issues of Licence, Code and governance document interpretation and compliance.Work closely with internal stakeholders, other network operators and the regulator to share best practice and represent SPEN's views to wider industry.Advance and develop SPEN's regulatory strategy, including preparing robust responses to relevant industry consultations / submissions and supporting SP Transmission to comply with its regulatory obligations.Support on ad-hoc regulatory issues identified by the Transmission Regulation ManagerSupporting on any CMA or Judicial Review appeals processIdentify relevant external publications and events to monitor the regulatory landscape, review or attend these to report to the Transmission regulation team on any relevant matters which may directly impact the businessWork with the Regulation manager supporting and leading engagements with Ofgem, other external stakeholders and governance groups on key regulatory issuesWhat you'll bringThe ability to outline complex issues in a straightforward and succinct way is essential.Strong analytical and numeracy skills.Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)Well organised to support working across multiple key policy areas.Experience from a regulation, policy, economics, commercial or codes role is preferred.Experience in electricity networks or the wider energy sector is preferred.You will work with, collaborate and influence multiple stakeholders at all levels – both internal and external including wider industry stakeholders, you will display excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to influence and persuade effectively.
