Deputy Manager – Specialist Dementia Residential Home (8 Beds)

Location: Smethwick, Sandwell, West Midlands

Hourly rate: £13.50 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate, confident and highly organised Deputy Manager to join our dedicated team within our 8-bedded specialist dementia residential service in Smethwick. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills, excellent written communication, and a genuine passion for supporting people living with dementia to flourish in a safe, caring environment.

About the role:

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring high standards of care, dignity and respect are consistently upheld. You will act as a key point of contact for staff, external professionals, families and visitors, helping to maintain a warm, collaborative and person-centred atmosphere within the home.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the home in accordance with current legislation and best practice
  • Work compassionately with residents living with dementia, promoting wellbeing, choice and independence
  • Support and supervise staff, fostering a positive and supportive team culture
  • Take responsibility for rota management, ensuring effective staffing levels at all times
  • Engage confidently with external professionals, including social workers, GPs, district nurses and other agencies
  • Complete accurate and detailed reports, handovers and documentation as required
  • Write, update and review care plans to a high standard, ensuring they are reflective, person-centred and compliant
  • Contribute to audits, quality monitoring and continuous improvement within the service

About you:

  • Experience working within a residential or dementia care environment (supervisory or senior role desirable)
  • Strong written communication and academic skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate and professional documentation
  • Able to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks within a busy environment
  • Confident in liaising with families and external professionals
  • Compassionate, calm, and committed to person-centred care
  • Understanding of dementia and the challenges faced by residents and their loved ones
  • Flexibility to cover shifts as needed
