Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our care home team specialising in senior care and assisted living. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the management team to deliver high-quality care services, ensuring the well-being and safety of residents. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in nursing, dementia care, or home care to utilise their leadership skills within a compassionate environment. The Deputy Manager will be responsible for supervising staff, assisting with care plans, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Home Manager in overseeing daily operations of the care home, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Supervise and support care staff, fostering a positive team environment and promoting best practices in senior and dementia care.
- Contribute to the development and review of personalised care plans tailored to residents' individual needs, including Alzheimer's and dementia-specific programmes.
- Administer medication safely and accurately in accordance with prescribed guidelines and legal requirements.
- Lead by example in delivering compassionate, person-centred care to residents, including those requiring specialised Alzheimer's or dementia support.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and quality standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Support staff training programmes, including medication administration and specialised dementia care techniques.
- Assist in managing staffing rotas, recruitment processes, and performance appraisals to ensure optimal staffing levels.
- Liaise effectively with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to coordinate resident care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments, ideally within senior or dementia care settings.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervising or management experience within a care home or home care setting.
- Knowledge of care regulations, safeguarding procedures, and legal requirements related to elderly and dementia care.
- Competence in developing and implementing personalised care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Experience with medication administration is essential.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent are desirable; nursing qualifications are advantageous.
