Role Overview:

You will work within a supportive environment, part of the Accounts Receivable Team. You will be responsible for the collection of money owed to Oldham Council for Sundry Income and Overpayment of Housing Benefits. You will manage your own workload and work alongside Council departments to effectively collect payments for services provided. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively recover sundry income and Housing Benefit Overpayments from individuals/companies/organisations etc. via telephone/email/face to face.
  • To deal with all enquiries in a professional and courteous manner that demonstrates excellent customer service.
  • Managing and prioritising your own workload, conducting details reviews of customer accounts.
  • Progressing cases to the next recovery action
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of Council Services to be able to effectively recover outstanding invoices.

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will be able to:

  • Experience of dealing with members of the public and providing an excellent customer service.
  • Experience of IT systems including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience of prioritising and managing your own workload and achieving deadlines and targets.
    Experience of Debt Collection
