GSK is seeking an accomplished National Sales Director to lead a new Specialty COPD KAM team, driving the uptake of our newest asset in COPD and improving patient outcomes in this critical disease area. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive condition that significantly impacts patients' quality of life and poses a substantial burden on healthcare systems.

This high-impact leadership role involves leading a team of KAMs across the UK, ensuring alignment with GSK's broader strategic objectives while delivering measurable results.   This new role is part of the establishment of our sales team to support the latest GSK launch in COPD, scheduled for 2026.

As the National Sales Director, you will be instrumental in building a brand-new team of Key Account Managers (KAMs) and spearheading the commercial strategy for our latest asset in COPD. You will lead the charge in empowering your team to achieve outstanding performance while fostering cross-functional collaboration to address unmet needs in COPD management.

As a company deeply committed to improving patients' lives and delivering innovative healthcare solutions, we are proud to offer a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the COPD therapy space while advancing your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

To support this launch, we are building a brand-new team of Key Account Managers (KAMs), with territories available across the UK. Additionally, we are recruiting a National Sales Director (NSD) to lead and inspire this team. This is a remarkable chance to be part of a newly formed specialist team, playing a pivotal role in helping GSK achieve its vision of bringing innovative medicines to patients in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspirational Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of KAMs, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture through regular engagement, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the national sales strategy to ensure a world class launch, ensuring alignment with GSK's commercial objectives and therapy area priorities.
  • KAM: Overseeing the development of world class KAM plan to ensure a successful launch.
  • Performance Management: Set clear sales targets, competency expectations, and KPIs for the team. Track performance to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Market Insights: Analyze account and regional data to generate actionable insights, contributing to the refinement of brand strategies for COPD therapies.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Empower teams to develop a deep understanding of customer needs, priorities, and marketplace dynamics to deliver maximum impact.
  • Coaching & Development: Conduct regular competency reviews, mentor sales managers, and create tailored development plans to ensure continuous improvement and career growth within the team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, medical, market access, and other functions to align resources and contribute to broader strategic and operational plans.
  • Resource Optimization: Deploy resources effectively based on territory segmentation and targeting to maximize impact and outcomes.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage regional budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and providing feedback on ROI to support commercial success.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to ABPI standards, GSK policies, and all relevant compliance guidelines across the team's operations.

COPD Disease Area Focus:

COPD is a chronic respiratory condition characterized by airflow limitation and persistent respiratory symptoms, often caused by exposure to harmful particles or gases. It is associated with frequent exacerbations, hospitalizations, and significant healthcare costs. GSK is committed to addressing these challenges by delivering innovative therapies, such as biologics, that target underlying inflammation and improve patient outcomes. As the National Sales Director, you will lead efforts to ensure these therapies reach the patients who need them most, while optimizing care pathways and reducing the burden of COPD on healthcare systems.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding sales results ideally within experience of Specialty Care launches.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven success in leading and developing high performing KAM teams in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strategic & Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to derive insights from data and translate them into actionable strategies and informed business decisions.
  • Relationship Building: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership approach to foster alignment and trust across teams and stakeholders.
  • Commercial Acumen: Familiarity with account management practices, NHS structures, and engagement with healthcare professionals and payors.
  • Respiratory Expertise: Strong knowledge of respiratory therapies or biologics, particularly in primary and secondary care settings.
  • Agile & Digital Proficiency: Digitally minded with an agile approach to adapting to new technologies and ways of working.
  • Compliance Knowledge: ABPI certification preferred, with a demonstrated ability to operate within regulatory frameworks.
