Finance Intern

London, Greater London, United Kingdom Soda Data Full time €10,200 - €15,000 per year

We're looking for a Finance Intern to join the Soda Finance team and help us move faster, smarter, and more efficiently. You'll work directly with the Head of Finance, Junior Financial Controller, and Operations team, collaborating across the organisation to keep our financial operations running smoothly.

Your main mission will be to take ownership of key finance processes such as Purchase-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, and Record-to-Report, improving them through structure and accuracy. Alongside your core finance work, there's room for side projects where you can explore AI and automation to make our workflows even more efficient — but these are complementary initiatives, not the core of the internship.

This is a high-impact internship where you'll learn fast, make a real difference, and help shape how Finance operates in a modern, data-driven company. Strong performance can lead to a full-time opportunity within the team.

Responsibilities

Depending on your strengths and interests, you'll be involved in areas such as:

  • Improve and document processes

  • From spend management to Purchase-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash.

  • Collaborate with the team to spot and remove process bottlenecks

  • Get hands-on with operations

  • Handle staff expenses, purchase invoices, customer billing, and payments end-to-end

  • Support month-end routines and help specify the balance sheet across our group entities

  • Assist with reporting and analytics

  • Support budgeting and forecasting analytics

  • Drive data quality improvements on our internal reporting from various systems

  • Optional side projects (for those interested in AI & automation):

  • Experiment with simple AI-powered tools or bots to automate repetitive tasks

  • Automate or improve manual workflows where appropriate
About Us

Soda's mission is to monitor the world's decisions. We're building the first Data and AI performance monitoring platform that spans data collection to automated decision-making. Soda helps customers detect, resolve, and prevent data quality issues by combining automated post-production monitoring with pre-production pipeline data testing. We enable Data Engineers to effectively own DQ by "shifting left" the data quality initiatives from business to engineering.

Soda was founded in 2018 by Maarten (employee #5 at Collibra, Go-To-Market leadership) and Tom (launched multiple OSS projects generating hundreds of millions in value). Together, they built a tool that ensures data quality across Data Engineering, Data Governance, and business use cases. Our open-source project, Soda Core, is already used by companies like Tesla, Slack, Adyen, Walmart, and JPMC. Soda commercializes its software through the Soda Cloud product. We're well-funded, with investors like Point 9 Capital, Hummingbird, Singular, and Eurazeo.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing startup at the cusp of becoming a leader in AI Observability.

Our Values

We value freedom with responsibility, transparency, and a growth mindset. We dislike politics and bullshit and value open and direct communication without judgment. We proactively bring up and address potential issues before they become critical and overcommunicate frequently. Working at Soda, you will have full autonomy to make impactful product and roadmap decisions and prioritize and organize your work how you see fit.
