Role Purpose

The Procurement function in Flutter is responsible for governance of external third party spend of over £6bn per annum across the various business units. To ensure a cohesive and co-ordinated approach to supplier spend management across Flutter, Business Owners are supported in the management of this spend by Sourcing, Category Management and Global Supplier Partnerships teams. As the Strategic Supplier Manager for Technology, you will play an important role in the management and optimisation of our tech spend of up to £765 million per annum across our Brands and Divisions and our commercial and strategic partnerships across named strategic suppliers (Microsoft, IBM, Google).

You will be responsible for ensuring that services are aligned with Flutters long-term business objectives, technical requirements, and financial goals. This role demands an elevated level of commercial competence, Technology experience across Software, Hardware and IT services, and experience in supplier relationship management within a fast-paced, global, digital-first environment.

A key element of the role is leading on strategic business partnering and performance management with strategic suppliers across Flutter globally. The ability to influence at Director and Leadership Team level across Flutter globally is critical to this role.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Supplier Strategy & Relationship Management

Function as the primary commercial liaison between Flutter and suppliers; e.g. Microsoft, IBM, Google

Develop and implement a supplier strategy aligned with our cloud roadmap and business objectives.

  • Lead business reviews with suppliers and partners on a global basis to review performance, risk management, future opportunities, and/or challenges and be responsible for implementation of actions following these.
  • Influence supplier roadmaps and offerings through strategic engagement.
  • Continually look for performance and process improvements both internally and with suppliers - being responsible for the execution of such improvements.
Contract & Commercial Management
  • Own and handle Supplier contracts and commercial performance for brands and divisions; current spend on Tech suppliers is £765million annually.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, Investments, volume commitments, and other value add components.
  • Track and optimise committed spend, utilising partnerships.
  • Monitor contract renewals, amendments, and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Working with FinOps Teams, implement and be responsible for supplier cost governance frameworks and reporting tools.
  • Through partnering with FinOps and Finance teams, provide detailed analysis, forecasts and consumption trends.
Risk & Compliance Management

Drive Flutters Supplier Relationship and Performance Management Program across suppliers to manage both performance and risk effectively.

Collaborate with Legal, InfoSec, and Compliance teams to monitor obligations and risks.

Partner Collaboration & Communication

Serve as a central point of contact for all strategic supplier business-related inquiries.

Function as a "trusted advisor" to Senior Flutter technology leaders in terms of supplier performance and spend management.

Translate business and technical requirements into value opportunities.

Skills & Capabilities

Required:

  • Shown experience handling strategic technology suppliers.
  • Solid understanding of billing models and governance frameworks.
  • Solid experience of technical infrastructure across SaaS/PaaS/IaaS environments.
  • Excellent collaborator engagement and interpersonal skills, including executive reporting.
  • The ability to lead across all levels on a strategic and operational basis in a large sophisticated organisation.
  • Strong experience assessing risk and concisely explaining sophisticated issues to key business owners.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly analyze, distil and draw conclusions on large amounts of disparate data.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience of strategic vendor management across global technology suppliers
  • Experience working within a multinational corporation, handling global contracts.
  • Degree or equivalent experience level education or relevant CIPS qualification
