As an Associate Supplier Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple CDIO Portfolio contracts within one of the practice pillars (Product, Service or Platform).
You will manage all aspects of your contracts including relationship, risk, issues, continual improvements, budgets and performance in line with the Supplier Management Practice principles and standards.
You will work closely with multiple stakeholders including commercial, strategic business partners, finance, security, major programmes, Accountable Relationship Owners, Senior Relationship Owners and various suppliers to monitor and drive performance of all contracts within your respective pillar, whilst holding suppliers to account.

You must have a positive attitude, be able to work effectively as part of a team while being able to work alone to deliver high standards ensuring excellent attention to detail. The development of work within in the team and practice will continually evolve, at a fast pace with challenging timelines for implementation.
Being a strong and confident leader, you will lead a team of O band Supplier Management Coordinators to be highly intelligent clients supporting a culture that constructively challenges internally and externally while supporting the wider Supplier management community through change, inspiring them to develop an exceptional Supplier Management community network.
You will be an escalation point for any risks or issues which are unable to be resolved operationally by O band Supplier Management Coordinators. Therefore, it is vital you are passionate about building positive relationships and overcoming hurdles to provide solutions when possible and knowing when to raise.
Working with the other practice Associate Supplier Managers, Supplier Managers, Lead Supplier Managers and the senior leadership team you will be supporting the development of the Supplier Management Practice and the sourcing strategy. You will be joining a community which is continually evolving and maturing.
Person specification
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Leading and managing a team of O band Supplier Management Coordinators within your portfolio pillar and create a growth culture where it's encouraged to challenge thoughts and ways of working, in a safe space.
- The escalation point for O band Supplier Management Coordinators to find resolutions for any potential disputes or conflicts, relating to any customer, operational and / or performance related issues.
- Coach and develop your teams to ensure they have the required skillset and training to be set up for success within their role.
- Build strong relationships with fellow Associate Supplier Managers, Supplier Manager's, Lead Supplier Managers and the Practice senior leadership team, Accountable Relationship Owners (ARO), Senior Relationship Owners (SRO), Strategic Supplier Relationship Manager (SSRM), Commercial, Finance and suppliers.
- Role model and demonstrate the civil service leadership behaviours within your peer group and your teams within the practice along with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the practice is a great place to work.
- Monitor performance of contracts being managed by yourself within your respective portfolio pillar, to ensure they deliver VFM and drive efficiencies by continuously holding suppliers to account for their performance through agreed contractual KPIs and SLAs.
- Attend and drive relevant Operational Performance Boards with suppliers to understand, manage and continually improve overall performance whilst identify operational efficiencies in becoming an intelligent client.
- You will be the voice of the customer through the pre and post award procurement process and champion customer journeys being driven by AI, security, digital first and self-serve design to reduce time, effort, and cost.
- Support the business area and commercial with the renewal, extension, new procurements, mobilisation, and contract exit.
- Through thought leadership, have the ability and creativity to think out of the box when it comes to looking at solutions for problems.
- Lead the continuous development and implementation of the optimal Supplier Management organisational model.
- Drive continual improvements within the ways of working within the practice to reduce cost, time and effort through automation and innovative technology where possible.
- Act as deputy for your Supplier Manager when required, which will support personal career development opportunities and experience.
- You will support the Supplier Manager's, Lead Supplier Managers and the Practice senior leadership team to drive and deliver the vision and overall strategic objectives of the Supplier Management practice.
- Support the development of the Supplier Management Practice and the sourcing strategy through trust and relationships.
- Ensure adherence of all key activities relating to security, onboarding/offboarding procedures, including process mapping current and future ways of working as the practice matures.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience within a similar role managing strategic and high risk, high value contracts and suppliers within a large complex organisation.
- Experience of building and maintaining positive relationships with the business and suppliers.
- Subject Matter Expert in Supplier Management.
- Evidence of managing in a Supplier Management function within the Government, public or private sector.
- Leadership and management experience including day-to-day people management and leadership of staff including developing staff and wider resources to influence and provide results.
- Have a solution focused approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Be able to tackle problems in an efficient and effective manner.
- Working knowledge and understanding of ITILv4 framework.
