About the Role:
We are looking for a HR Business Partner as Maternity Cover to join us on an interim contract for 10 months to support the People and Development Team. This role is available on either a full time or part time basis.
This role is based within the Friend MTS (FMTS) People and Development Team in Birmingham and supports the workforce across the UK, USA, Singapore, Japan and Spain with all HR related duties.
Main responsibilities
As the HR Business Partner at FMTS you will be responsible for providing people management advice to a broad range of people managers. You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to enable the successful delivery of the people strategy
The role requires a key focus on people policy development and strategic projects such as employee benefits, contract reviews, reward, employment engagement, wellbeing, talent management/learning & development and equality, diversity & inclusion (ED&I) initiatives.

Recruitment
- Manage the full recruitment process, from the creation of job descriptions to supporting managers with remuneration and benefits in line with the industry and internal benchmarks.
- Review recruitment strategies and identify effective ways to attract and retain the very best calibre talent.
- Work closely with team managers to understand current and future talent needs based on organisational goals and objectives.
- Upload and manage all active roles onto the Company Applicant Tracking System (Bamboo)
- Make offers and support the HR Coordinator with onboarding and induction, overseeing background checks and conducting any risk assessments.
Employee Relations & Employment Law
- Act as the lead on all employee relations cases, ranging from (but not limited to) grievances, to disciplinaries and capability processes.
- Provide expert advice on UK employment law, ensuring all people practices are up to date, compliant, and mitigate legal risk.
- Be able to review, develop and implement policy updates, new policies to ensure constant compliance and adherence to UK employment and Company processes
Employee Engagement:
- Manage the annual engagement and pulse survey through the company Engagement Platform (Culture Amp), reviewing the results and presenting any findings and trends.
- Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and satisfaction within FMTS
- Partner with business leaders to create a positive work environment and foster an inclusive, positive culture.
Learning and Development
- Support the People and Development Coordinator with the management of the company Learning Management System (Kallidus)
- Roll out all mandatory compliance training at key intervals throughout the year
- Lead manager training throughout the year
- Identify, source and implement any training which will upskill our teams
- Manage and support the annual company performance review process, ensuring all objectives are uploaded, effective and that mid-year reviews are communicated and completed in line with timelines set, providing training where necessary.
Additional Duties
- Line manage and support the development of the People and Development Coordinator
- Prepare and share the monthly HR report, compiling data and key metrics for review
- Prepare the monthly payroll for submission, both within the UK and Internationally
- Manage and maintain the HRIS (Bamboo)
- Undertake ongoing HR administration by way of contract updates, change letters etc
- Participate in the implementation and delivery of projects.
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
- Level 7- CIPD Qualified
- Line management experience
- Experience of HR Business Partnering with senior management teams in a generalist HR role
- Experience of advising and handling a range of HR issues
- A track record for building strong professional relationships and credibility.
- Experience of uploading monthly payroll changes
- Experience of maintaining and managing a company Learning Management System, Employee Engagement Platform, Applicant Tracking Systems and HR Information Systems.
- Experience of successfully leading a range of HR initiatives in support of a wider HR strategy.
- A proven ability in performance management and coaching.
