About the Role As Principal Planning Officer, you will: Lead on major and complex planning applications from pre‑application to delivery. Provide professional advice and oversee decision‑making, including signing off reports and recommendations. Represent the Council at planning committees, appeals and public inquiries. Mentor and support junior officers, fostering a #OneTeam culture. Drive service improvements and contribute to strategic projects that shape our communities. What We’re Looking For Extensive knowledge of planning legislation and Development Management. Proven experience managing major/complex applications and delivering positive outcomes. Strong negotiation, problem‑solving and leadership skills. RTPI membership (or eligibility) and commitment to ongoing professional development. A proactive, collaborative approach with a “can‑do” attitude.
