Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Healthy Country team This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity leave contract based in Derby, WA. Relocation support will be provided to the successful candidate, if required. About the Role The Women's Ranger Coordinator leads our Indigenous Female Rangers to deliver conservation, land management, and cultural programs. You will work as part of the Healthy Country Team who are committed to protecting land and sea Country through activities such as fire management, biodiversity monitoring, marine patrols, cultural heritage, and training initiatives. The team collaborates closely with expert partners, including Parks and Wildlife (DBCA), Australian Wildlife Conservancy, WA Fisheries (DPIRD), the Department of Agriculture, and research organisations to achieve program goals. In addition, this role provides mentorship to build the skills and confidence of Female Rangers through training and development. Overseeing ranger operations in collaboration with the Healthy country team, including planning, budgeting, staffing, logistics, and on-ground delivery. Coordinating cultural activities and back-to-country trips for Traditional Owners. Supervising and mentoring Female Rangers, building skills for specialist and senior roles through training and development frameworks. Managing assets and infrastructure, including vehicles and equipment. Fostering strong relationships with Traditional Owners and partners. Providing updates to the Healthy Country Committee, Directors, and Members. Ensuring compliance with safety systems and reporting requirements. What We Are Looking For You’ll be a hands‑on leader with practical bush skills, strong logistics, and experience in environmental management or community development. You’ll be culturally aware, adaptable, and passionate about mentoring Indigenous women in a remote Kimberley setting. You will also bring: Tertiary qualification in natural resource management, environmental science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people in remote Australia, preferably in conservation, land management, or community development Proven ability to manage and supervise teams, including planning work, motivating staff, and monitoring performance in challenging environments Strong skills in logistics, budgeting, work planning, and reporting Experience operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, and small machinery (marine operations experience desirable) Practical bush skills and a current manual driver’s license (4WD experience essential), with the ability to commit to multiple remote field trips (3‑10 days) during the dry season Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing budgets, work plans, and reporting Ability to obtain and maintain: Working with Children Check National Police Clearance First Aid Certificate About the Dambeemangaddee people We are the Traditional Owners of the land and waters along the north‑west Kimberley coastline, extending from the Robinson River, just north of Derby to the Prince Regent River in the far north of the Kimberley region in WA.
