The office base for this role is in Exeter EX2 4QD. About the role/team:In Children and Families,the teams are responsible for managing child-in-need and child protection cases as well as cases in legal proceedings and looked after children. The casework is varied, and you will be working creatively within DCCs restorative practice model to promote positivechange within the home environment. Managing a small team of practitioners, you'll embed a high-performance culture by helping your team to continually develop their skills so that they can achieve the best outcomes for DCCs children and families. Throughreflective supervision meetings with your team of social workers, you'll champion their personal growth. Alongside your role as a manager, you will also be responsible for the allocation and oversight of cases within your defined area, ensuring quality standardsare maintained, as well as supporting social workers to identify risk and decide when to take protective action. In some cases, you will support social workers through formal legal proceedings and attend court, working in partnership with DCCs Legal team.ExperienceRequired: An outstanding social worker with a strong understanding of safeguarding, you will have significant post-qualifying experience gained within at least two different social care environments. Experienced of supervising and mentoring qualified and unqualifiedcolleagues. First-class interpersonal skills, to support the need to deal with complex social care issues. Good understanding of managing complex cases, including court work. Demonstrable experience of promoting practice that improves outcomes for children,and an understanding of challenging underperformance when needed.Essential Requirements: Eligible to work in the UK. Hold a full UK licence (essential) - Devon is a mostly rural county, and as their localities cover a large area accordingly you would be expectedto travel some distance between visits. Devon therefore require the successful candidate to have access to their own suitable transport. Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS.Benefits of the role: Up to £150 per week accommodation allowance subject to thesuccessful candidate being currently based at least 50 miles, one-way from the proposed work base.
