About the role: Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of neurodivergent children? As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll have the opportunity to support children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and other special educational needs. Working closely with a fantastic, supportive team, you’ll help students with varied needs—including communication, executive functioning, anxiety, and functional skills—access a well-rounded and enriching education. Your role will include assisting the class teacher with tailored activities, adapting materials to meet students’ EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) requirements, and fostering a warm, positive environment for students to thrive.
About the school: This outstanding school, highly rated by Ofsted, has cultivated a reputation as a nurturing, inclusive environment dedicated to supporting neurodivergent students. With small class sizes and individualized attention, students can genuinely flourish both academically and socially. The school takes a holistic approach to SEN support, with a strong onsite therapeutic team that integrates speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and mental health support. Staff, parents, and students work collaboratively to create a close-knit community that celebrates every success, no matter how big or small. Here, your impact will be both deeply felt and widely appreciated.
Application Requirements:
• A genuine passion for working with children with SEN/SEND.
• Some experience working with children, preferably in an educational or therapeutic setting.
• Knowledge of supporting students with ASD, ADHD, or SLD is ideal but not essential.
• A patient, compassionate approach, and strong communication skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN.
• Assist in implementing and adapting EHCP plans for individual needs.
• Collaborate with the therapeutic team to enhance students' learning experiences.
• Create a warm, encouraging environment to build students’ confidence and independence.
• Support the teacher with classroom management and differentiated learning activities.
Perks and Benefits:
• Competitive daily rate.
• Access to a dedicated therapeutic team for support and professional development.
• A caring, inclusive school environment with strong community ties.
• Regular training opportunities to advance your SEN knowledge and skills.
• Supportive leadership and experienced colleagues to guide and mentor you.
