Job Overview

MLK Education Search is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team at a newly established independent school in West Drayton, Greater London.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for working with SEN children, particularly those with severe learning difficulties and autism.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Design and deliver engaging sessions to enhance learner engagement.
    • Create and implement Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) for each student.
    • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and parents.
    • Track and document student progress and attendance.
    • Support learners in developing self-regulation skills as needed.
    • Manage a specific pathway and provide direct line management for associated classes.
    • Closely collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to review and enhance the Quality of Education within the pathway.
    • Oversee pastoral care and positive behavior strategies to boost engagement and learning within the pathway.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching SEN children, especially those with severe learning difficulties and autism.
  • Familiarity with the EQUALS curriculum is advantageous.
  • Experience with non-linear developmental assessment frameworks (e.g., Routes for Learning, SCERTS) is beneficial.
  • A strong passion for working with SEN children.
  • Capability to manage Teachers and Teaching Assistants.
