About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in West Drayton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special education needs.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work closely with the lead teacher to enable each pupil to access their curriculum, engage with playground activities, and support the development of pupils' education. They will also be responsible for looking after pupils' physical, emotional, and social welfare, operating in a calm and assertive manner during SEN-specific situations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensuring their delivery.
  • Assist in managing classroom behavior, promoting positive relationships, and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide one-to-one, two-to-one, and three-to-one support to pupils as required, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress and any areas of concern.
  • Participate in review meetings and contribute to the development of ECHP plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and attendance.

Requirements

  • Experience working with SEN pupils, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Friendly, compassionate, patient, and resilient individual with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, demonstrating sensitivity and understanding towards pupils' needs.
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviors and providing a calm, assertive presence in SEN-specific situations.
