Training Programme Director Core Psychiatry

Job summary The post holder will oversee the delivery of the Core Psychiatry training Programme in NHSE England North West.
It will cover the East (formerly North West) part of the Scheme.
The post holder will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the North West School of Psychiatry and contribute to supporting the School Operational Programme.
The post holder will be a member of the School Board and Core Psychiatry Speciality Training committee.
Please note this is a 3 year secondment with potential to extend to a maximum of three years, subject to mutual agreement.
Main duties of the job Work in collaboration with Head of School of Psychiatry to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy which supports the recruitment and retention of Core Psychiatry Trainees and to promote health and well-being: Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met.
To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher.

Job description Job responsibilities To provide expert advice on Specialty specific matters to the Scheme.
To ensure that the training programme remains appropriate to deliver the RCPsych Core Psychiatry speciality curriculum To provide rotation details in a timely manner to the Programme Support Team in order to meet our contractual requirements To support the Head of School to ensure appropriate systems for Assessment, Rotational Management, Trainee Supervision & Support and other functions within the School.
To Chair assessment ARCP panels for Core Psychiatry and to attend feedback ARCP panels as required For full information please see attached job description.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Consultant in Core Psychiatry on the Specialist Register Member / Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Desirable Education Qualification such as Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Medical Education Experience Essential Experience of working with doctors in an educational context Experience as an educational supervisor especially for Psychiatric trainees Desirable Clinical Manager experience Previous or current appointment as a Leader in Healthcare Education would be desirable Experience in Recruitment Awareness of funding streams for Healthcare Education Understanding the Workforce Transformation agenda Skills Essential Demonstrable leadership skills, consistent with own personal style, and an ability to motivate others Effective interpersonal skills, as well as written and oral presentation skills Committed to own professional development and learning Ability to remain curious, open to new ideas, and willingness to be challenged Adequate organisational skills to be able to deliver the operational aspects of the role in a timely manner Desirable A clear sense of vision and an ability to innovate
