Job summary Work directly alongside staff for 75% of the role to facilitate staff becoming competent and capable practitioners by improving the quality of the learning environment by providing support, supervision, educational and professional development opportunities for all, within the practice setting.
Ensuring to act as a positive, professional, role model in promoting clinical excellence and offer expert, professional development advice ensuring practice is patient centered and evidence based Main duties of the job Collaborate with the theatre sisters and matron to plan, deliver, maintain, and evaluate an effective specialist, clinical learning environment through role modelling, leadership, and excellence in practice.

Ensure a robust assessment system is in place to provide a continuous means of clinical support and supervision.

Develop and participate in the induction and orientation programme to theatres for all staff.
4.
Ensure that the specialist, theatre training records for all staff are kept up to date.
5.
Support practice development and project work within the service, demonstrating a commitment to disseminating information and sharing experiences.
6.
Ensure a progressive approach to raising standards and the advancement of professional practice and patient care in line with national and trust strategy.
7.
Design, develop and deliver training sessions in clinical practice settings and evaluate learning.
8.
Instigate education opportunities for assessors / educators / preceptors in practice to support them in enhancing their mentorship skills.

Establish and develop effective relationships with the theatre team to plan and facilitate changes and innovation in practice.
Use coaching/mentoring-style techniques to support practitioners in clinical areas and facilitate the implementation of personal development plans, agreed programmes of change and project work within the service, demonstrating a commitment to disseminating information and sharing experiences.
Act as a role model and clinical expert to colleagues by guiding practice, assessing competence, and supporting the implementation of any policies to actively enhance learning in the knowledge and provision of perioperative care.
In collaboration with senior clinical staff, develop and maintain an effective and creative learning environment for all individuals seeking knowledge and experience in perioperative practice and support the theatre sisters/team leaders, and matron in all matters relating to staff development.
Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical competence and inform practice development with a sound and current knowledge of professional practice and health care issues, promoting evidence-based practice.
Contribute to a climate where staff members appropriately question and challenge practice, and where decision-making can be openly debated and discussed and assist departmental leaders in implementing change effectively.
Provide sensitive feedback focused on the progress of learners and foster a climate in which best practice can be safely debated and reflected upon.

Please read the attached Job description and the person specification attachments for more details Person Specification Qualifications and Experience Essential RN - 1ST level Registration/ ODP Level 3 NVQ/Dip HE ODP ODA 752 Computer literacy Accredited Teaching Certificate or equivalent (mentorship) /Practice Assessor Proven, extensive (18 months minimum) post registration experience of working in the perioperative environment in the relevant specialty.
Evidence of previous staff/student mentorship/preceptorship within the perioperative environment Patient focused approach to provision of care Knowledge of contemporary peri-operative issues Flexibility to facilitate cross divisional teaching at any of the four Hospitals of the OUH.
Desirable Diploma/PG Cert in Peri-Operative Practice or equivalent experience Teaching qualification / Leadership course Experience of leading a team Evidence of resource management Evidence of developing or delivering teaching/learning sessions in practice Evidence of continual professional and personal development
