'New Year, New Challenge? Are you looking for a more interesting admin role where you can make a difference? We are a hard working team who support clinical and service teams to deliver cancer pathways. As a key part of the cancer multidisciplinary team our admin staff play a vital part in managing the patients pathway and avoiding delays to treatment. There is no patient contact in this role but plenty of patient impact. Post holders must work several days a week on site at the Churchill hospital (days/hours to fit around the clinical meeting but within standard working hours/days) Potential to work from home on the remaining days.

We are looking for strong administrators (NHS background good but not essential) with plenty of initiative and the skills to liaise with a wide range of clinicians. Attention to detail and strong organisational skills essential. This is a responsible role which is greatly relied upon by our cancer clinicians
- enthusiasm and a genuine desire to support these pathways is essential.

The Cancer Pathways Team provides an administration service encompassing the facilitation of Cancer Multi-disciplinary Team meetings, and monitoring of patients on cancer pathways to ensure the best patient experience is delivered within the national Cancer Waiting Times standards.

The team keep track of all the cancer patients ensuring they are seen and treated as soon as possible, within the national cancer waiting times. The coordinator role supports the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDT’s) where patients treatment plans are discussed and agreed across the clinical team.

The role requires strong communication and IT skills, attention to detail and good organisational skills. The ability to work within a team but also independently and have the confidence to liaise with colleagues of all disciplines across the organisation and with other Trusts.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST**:
As a key member of the Cancer Pathways Team, the post holder will monitor patient pathway progress and support the achievement of the national cancer targets. The post holder will work with all members of the Cancer Tumour Site Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to facilitate the delivery of weekly MDT meetings. Responsibilities include:
Facilitate data collection for diagnosed and suspected cancer patients and enter the information onto appropriate database(s)

Monitor and facilitate the progress of patients on cancer diagnostic/treatment pathways

Provide information to support achievement of the national cancer waiting times targets.

Prepare and facilitate weekly tumour site MDT meetings.

The post holder will act as the focal point for the multidisciplinary team and will be an essential and integral part in the smooth running, administration and organisation of a tumour site specific MDT service. This is a unique administration role that requires flexibility, attention to detail, initiative and excellent communication skills.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
CANCER WAITING TIMES MONITORING/DATA COLLECTION

To establish and maintain a register of all newly diagnosed and suspected cancer patients. Collate information from a variety of sources such as pathology, surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy systems

Update the cancer waiting times database (Infoflex) for monitoring 31 and 62 day target on a daily basis.

Monitor and facilitate patient’s progress (tracking) on the cancer pathways, following the Cancer Management Team escalation process to highlight, prevent and resolve delays. Liaise with clinicians, nursing and other admin staff to determine the reasons for delays with cancer waiting times targets.

To facilitate collection of the national cancer dataset (Cancer Waiting Times Dataset) by:
Collating information from proformas, case notes, clinics and MDT meetings

Discussion with clinicians and clinical nurse specialist

Electronic retrieval of prospective and retrospective data from Infoflex, EPR, PACS, Case notes.

To collate data from referring hospitals required for Cancer Waiting Times.

To collect and upload clinical data as specified within the national clinical datasets i.e. National Lung Cancer Audit (NLCA)

MDT MEETINGS AND PATIENT TRACKING

To facilitate the MDT meetings of an allocated tumour site. This may require being available for an early start/late finish or during lunchtimes.
