This is an excellent opportunity to work in a Team Leader role ensuring the provision of an efficient, integrated and comprehensive administrative/support service within the Cancer Pathways Team.

The Team Leader will manage a team of cancer pathway co-ordinators and trackers being responsible for recruitment, training, appraisals and performance management.

The Cancer Pathways Team provides an administration service encompassing the facilitation of Cancer Multi-disciplinary Team meetings, and monitoring of patients on cancer pathways to ensure the best patient experience.

This is one of several Team Leader roles within the Team.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST**:
Main Responsibilities

Managerial responsibility for a team of Cancer Pathway Co-ordinators and other administrative staff as appropriate. This will include the recruitment, appraisal, education and development of the post holders

Ensure the provision of an efficient, integrated and comprehensive Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) administrative/support service to appropriate clinical teams

Ensure effective tracking/monitoring of the all cancer patient tracking lists (PTL), with appropriate reporting to the Cancer Manager

Ensure accurate cancer data collection through tracking/ monitoring; using worklists to support effective patient pathways and national cancer audits

Act as a mediator for MDT co-ordinators in particular with clinical service and tumour site group staff to help resolve issues and problems

Promote and facilitate productive working relationships between MDT co-ordinators, clinical service managers, patient access managers and as required with referring Trusts

**Responsibilities**:
Provide line management and support to a team of Cancer Pathway co-ordinators/ cancer administration staff as required.

using regular one to one and group meetings, facilitate and promote a ‘one team’ approach

Plan workforce requirements in direct liaison with the Lead Cancer Manager or a nominated deputy, to ensure appropriate and equitable levels of Cancer Pathway support to all MDT’s and tumour site specialties

Provide consistent high quality cover for sickness, annual leave and vacant posts

Support the recruitment and orientation process for new Cancer Pathway co-ordinators ensuring that Trust policy is always followed.

Facilitate training for all relevant systems for new and existing staff members of the Team and across the Trust as appropriate

Work closely with the Informatics Team facilitating high quality Data collection and submission

Be familiar with the Trust human resources policies and conditions of service, including sickness absence and performance management. Ensure that processes are followed and workforce information is appropriately disseminated

Take personal responsibility and ensure that all MDT co-ordinators/ cancer admin staff have an annual appraisal and a personal development plan in accordance with Trust guidelines

Work with Trust support services and the MDT co-ordinators to ensure consistent and good quality video conferencing for Networked MDT’s

Work to achieve productive working relationships with colleagues within the Trust

Liaise with cancer services staff in other hospitals to promote excellent working relationships and swift referrals between Trusts.

Ensure and record the attendance of all staff at Trust mandatory training sessions and their achievement of e-learning modules.

Support the Lead Cancer Manager in implementing new initiatives across the Trust in relation to cancer pathways

Support the Cancer Manager with regular reviews of processes, practice, policies and systems supporting and implementing the development of innovative working practices

Support the Lead Cancer Manager in achieving compliance against national and locally set Operational Standards.

Support the Lead Cancer Manager in organisational and service level objectives relating to cancer services.

General Responsibilities

The post holder must at all times respect patient confidentiality and in particular the confidentiality of electronically stored personal data in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

Abide by all Statutory and Trust policies and procedures

Attend Mandatory training courses as indicated by the Trust policy

Participate in individual performance review in regular supervision sessions as agreed.

Ensure the Team work to the Trust’s set of values.
