Job summary Weare looking for an individual to fill this full time replacement post withinthe Cellular Pathology Department at St Jamess University Hospital to supportthe provision of Gynaecology pathology services to The Leeds Teaching HospitalsNHS Trust (LTHT) and the region.
The workload also covers the NHS cervical screeningprogramme.
The Gynaecology service currently has four specialisthistopathologists and this will be a fifth.
There is a large postgraduatetraining programme in the region which the groups provide training for.
Thereare strong links with the academic department of pathology with the largestclinical academic training programme in the country.

Discuss relevant technologies and thechallenges of integration into current NHS workstreamsINTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD VIA MS TEAMS:Tuesday 11 February 2025 Main duties of the job Thesuccessful applicant should possess FRCPath (or equivalent).
They should beincluded on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time ofinterview if currently within a training programme within the UK.
In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Applicants should haveestablished skills in Gynaecology pathology and demonstrable interest and experiencein the specialty ideally including exposure to gynae screening programmespecimens.
A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching isdesirable.
Consideration will be given to applicantswho wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Financiallysustainable Job description Job responsibilities In relation to this post, it is a full time (10 PA) replacement consultant postwithin the Pathology Clinical Support Unit to support the provision of pathology services toThe Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) and the region.
Our departmentworks in a collaborative and flexible way to deliver a sub-specialisedpathology service tailored to the needs of the tertiary centre.The appointeewill have specialist experience in Gynae pathology.
We have developed the principles ofthe Royal College of Pathologists guidelines to try and achieve full staffingand an equitable distribution of work among the consultants in our department.Any candidate who isunable to work the full time for personal reasons will be eligible to beconsidered for the post.
If such aperson is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on apersonal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

*Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: -CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process.
Desirable Attendance at recognised management course Qualifications Essential FRCPath or equivalent qualification Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO BE CONSIDERED.
Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

Desirable Attendance at recognised management course Training, Research, Teaching & Audit Essential Should have successfully completed a recognised training programme in Cellular Pathology leading to a CCST (or equivalent) or Histopathology leading to a CCT (or equivalent) Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors Experience of participation in regular clinical audit Desirable Dedicated training time in specialist Gynae pathology.
Previous participation in Gynae EQA scheme.
Relevant higher degree such as PhD or Masters Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops Experience Essential Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Gynae pathology Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances Desirable Specialist experience in Gynae pathology including clinical pathological correlation, specialist Gynaecological malignancy MDT meetings, and interpretation of modern molecular diagnostic techniques
