Job summary Weare looking for an individual to fill this full time, half new half replacementpost within the Cellular Pathology Department at St Jamess University Hospitalto support the provision of Dermatopathology services to The Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) and the region.
The Dermatopathology servicecurrently has seven specialist histopathologists some of whom do predominantlydermatopathology and other are part dermatopathology with another specialty.
Thereis a large postgraduate training programme in the region which the groupsprovide training for.
There are strong links with the academic department ofpathology with the largest clinical academic training programme in thecountry.
If shortlisted, you will be required togive a 10-minute presentation on:How have advances ingenomic testing and molecular pathology changed Dermatopathology over recentyears and will continue to do so?
Discuss relevant technologies and thechallenges of integration into current NHS workstreamsINTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD VIA MS TEAMS:Tuesday 11 February 2025 Main duties of the job Thesuccessful applicant should possess FRCPath (or equivalent).
They should beincluded on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time ofinterview if currently within a training programme within the UK.
In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Applicants should haveestablished skills in Dermatopathology and demonstrable interest and experiencein the specialty.
A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduateteaching is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicantswho wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Financiallysustainable Job description Job responsibilities In relation to this post, it is a full time (10 PA) replacement consultant postwithin the Pathology Clinical Support Unit to support the provision of pathology services toThe Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) and the region.
Our departmentworks in a collaborative and flexible way to deliver a sub-specialisedpathology service tailored to the needs of the tertiary centre.The appointeewill have specialist experience in the Dermatopathology.
We have developed theprinciples of the Royal College of Pathologists guidelines to try and achievefull staffing and an equitable distribution of work among the consultants inour department.Any candidate who isunable to work the fulltime for personal reasons will be eligible to beconsidered for the post.
If such aperson is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on apersonal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential FRCPath or equivalent qualification Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED.
Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT Eligibility to work in the UK Is up to date and fit to practice safely Desirable RCPath Diploma in Dermatopathology Management, Interpersonal Skills & Other Requirements Essential Understanding of current issues in the NHS Well organised and skilled in good time management.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate ability to relate to and work well within a team.
*Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
*Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: -CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process.
Desirable Attendance at recognised management course Experience Essential Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Dermatopathology.
Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances Desirable Specialist experience in dermatopathology including direct immunofluorescence, clinical pathological correlation, specialist dermatological malignancy MDT meetings, and interpretation of modern molecular diagnostic techniques Training, Research, Teaching & Audit Essential Should have successfully completed a recognised training programme in Cellular Pathology leading to a CCST (or equivalent) or Histopathology leading to a CCT (or equivalent) Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors Experience of participation in regular clinical audit Desirable Dedicated training time in specialist Dermatopathology.
Previous participation in NSD EQA scheme.
Relevant higher degree such as PhD or Masters Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops
