We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. We provide a range of services, including Domestic Abuse support, Modern Slavery assistance, Mental Health & Complex Needs care, and Criminal Justice. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence.
The service you will work in….
The Camden Crisis Sanctuary offers free mental health support for individuals aged 18+ who live in Camden or have accessed mental health services in the borough. Open daily from 5-11pm, it provides a safe space for walk-ins (last admission at 10:30pm) or telephone support during these hours. The service helps manage immediate distress, offering short-term support, a listening ear, and tools to cope with mental health challenges. Visitors can work with the team to create personalized mental health plans. Messages left before opening hours will be returned within 24 hours. No appointments are necessary.
A day in this role looks like….
As a Recovery Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Complex Needs service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.
A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:
To possess a strong understanding of techniques to manage and mitigate mental health crises, and the ability to effectively apply these strategies in high-pressure situations
To demonstrate strong teamwork skills, actively contributing to a collaborative environment where colleagues work together to provide comprehensive support to service users.
To exhibit proficiency in administrative tasks and record-keeping duties with a professional approach, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to organizational protocols
To show sensitivity and empathy towards service users, actively identifying their individual needs and providing appropriate emotional support in a compassionate manner.
To have knowledge of signposting resources within the mental health sector, enabling the provision of relevant information and guidance to service users seeking additional support beyond immediate crisis intervention.
To clearly articulate the aims and objectives, pathway and service model to people using the service so they can fully participate in and co-produce their support
Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empowering service users to achieve their goals and aspirations and to encourage service users to access these opportunities.
Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the service manager and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise.
Ensure that administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously and that confidentiality is appropriately maintained.
Why Hestia?
Joining Hestia means more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger. We offer a supportive, inclusive and resolution driven work environment where your contributions are recognised and valued. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to grow both personally and professionally while making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:
