U-educate are currently recruiting for Pastoral Support to work in secondary schools based in Southampton. We offer day to day as well as short/long term roles.
We are seeking to appoint this role to support the senior leadership team to manage KS3 and KS4 student behaviour throughout the school day. You will act as a role model for students and staff by demonstrating high quality pastoral care and support, rigorous expectations and to be a visible, professional presence with students. As pastoral support, you will also be expected to work in an ‘on call’ capacity, where you will ensure that students are in their lessons, as well as acting as support for the classroom teacher should they need it and removing students from lessons into the internal isolation unit.
The role requires diplomacy, understanding of vulnerable students and an ability to resolve conflict in a calm and rational manner.
Job Description
* Have experience of supporting young people 11-16
* Be confident in managing challenging behaviours and your ability to remain calm in those situations
* Have worked in an ‘on call’/internal isolation unit before
* Can engage with students and build a rapport
* Can implement and monitor behaviour management strategies
* Contribute to school wide knowledge and skills in behaviour management
* Have a high-level of judgment, communication and emotional intelligence skills.
Requirements
* Previous experience with KS3 and KS4 students
* A positive and committed individual who will be able to take responsibility for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our children throughout the school day.
* Ability to pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to work with children.
* Up to date Safeguarding Training (You can undertake a free course with U-educate if you have not got a safeguarding certificate dated from September 2023)
