AV Support Engineer

Hour rate: £16.00

Job Type: Full-time, On-siteReed Engineering in Cambridge are recruiting for an AV Support Engineer to join the Department of Engineering at a prestigious university in Cambridge, where you will be part of the Information and Computing Services group. As an AV Support Engineer, you will provide crucial support and maintenance services for the department's audio-visual infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic academic environment and is committed to excellence in service delivery.

Day-to-day of the role:

Act as the primary contact point for receiving and handling requests for AV support, providing first-line investigation, diagnosis, and resolution.
Work closely with the Senior AV Engineer to maintain and support audio-visual and IT infrastructure across the department's facilities.
Carry out agreed operational procedures, including equipment configuration, installation and maintenance.
Use infrastructure management tools to collect and report on usage and performance statistics.
Install or remove hardware and/or software, following detailed instructions and ensuring proper handover to clients.
Identify and resolve network and application issues following agreed procedures.
Participate in the delivery of learning activities and contribute to the development of support documentation and standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
Developing knowledge of technical specialisms within IT domains, such as Desktop Support.
Ability to perform basic equipment installations, such as mounting TVs (desirable).
AV industry certification (e.g., AVIXA, Extron) is desirable.
Proven ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Recent experience in delivering service and working in an AV/IT department.
Experience supporting professional AV systems (e.g., Extron, Crestron) is desirable.
